The Scoop.
Healthy Minds, Healthy Communities (HMHC)
HMHC is a community-centered mental wellness initiative led by The Harris Center for Mental Health & IDD and funded by Harris County through ARPA Local Fiscal Recovery Funds (ARPA). The program equips individuals, local leaders, and organizations with tools and training to support one another’s emotional health, fostering resilience and emotional wellness at the community level.
Rooted in a community-initiated care model, HMHC brings support into the spaces where people feel most comfortable — their own neighborhoods, cultural hubs, and trusted networks.
This branding is in collaboration with Langrand out of Houston, TX.
The Strategy.
The HMHC brand strategy was rooted in the belief that where systems fall short, communities shine. My goal was to translate this into a brand that empowers everyday people to support emotional wellness in ways that feel natural, familiar, and accessible.
Through human-centered messaging, warm visuals, and culturally responsive design, the brand emphasizes resilience, connection, and care from within. The identity needed to reflect not just a mental health initiative—but a movement: one that shows healing can begin right where people are, in the neighborhoods and trusted spaces they call home.
Creative Concept.
The brand development of HMHC brought this strategy to life by visually expressing the program’s deep commitment to emotional wellness, cultural inclusion, and community-led care. Drawing from the initiative’s grassroots foundation, the new identity centered around warmth, trust, and accessibility — creating a brand that resonates across neighborhoods, community spaces, and diverse audiences.
The updated look was designed to feel approachable and empowering, while supporting the program’s mission to build emotional resilience through familiar and trusted networks.

The HMHC social campaign brought the brand’s strategy to life in real time — showing up where the community already is: online. Every graphic and caption reflected the approachable visual identity, while reinforcing the brand’s goal of making care feel accessible. From uplifting messaging to resource-driven calls to action, this digital presence extended the grassroots spirit of HMHC — meeting people where they are, and making connection feel just a scroll away.
Content Pillar.
Our social content was structured around three core pillars: emotional wellness, resource access, and community voice. From carousel graphics to candid photography, each asset mapped back to the brand’s core values — ensuring consistency while allowing flexibility across moments like Pride Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, and local training promotions.

We took the HMHC brand beyond the feed and into a fully designed web experience — built in Figma, mapped with intention, and made for everyone from community members to elected officials.
The site’s structure was guided by a custom sitemap and a clear mission: make it easy to find help, learn more, and get involved. Clean, accessible, and purpose-driven — just like the work behind it. Check it out!
